Whirlpool Building Blocks Build
Beginning on Saturday, September 11, 2010, Habitat Lansing will be building a home on the campus of Michigan State University with Whirlpool Corporation! While the home will eventually be moved to 5106 South Washington Ave. in Lansing, we will spend eight days blitz building on campus. During our time on campus, we are encouraging MSU students to volunteer to build with us. At this time, only MSU students are allowed to register for crews. To volunteer, visit MSU's Center for Service Learning and Civic Engagement online registration page. Log in using your MSU Net ID and password. Once you're logged in, click on "Engineering and Construction" and scroll to position ME-010 Habitat On-Campus Blitz Build. Click on "Submit" to register. Once you've done that, you'll receive a password you can use to register with Habitat Lansing. Visit the "Volunteer" section of our (website) and either log in or create a new volunteer profile. After you have created a log in, fill out a skills form and complete your orientation by answering a series of questions. Your registration as a volunteer is complete only once you have printed your volunteer waiver and sent it to us! As a registered volunteer, you can select crews from our volunteer calendar and sign up using the password provided through your MSU registration. If you have any questions about MSU registration, please contact the CSLCE at 517-353-4400 or [ email for help ]. If you need assistance with Habitat Lansing registration, please call 517-374-1313 x. 20 or email [ Ginny ]. We look forward to building with you!
Bike to Build On Saturday, August 21, over 80 riders enjoyed the countryside in Ingham and Clinton counties as they rode in Bike to Build. Our riders enjoyed three stops throughout their ride with fresh fruit and drinks before lunch at the DeWitt Ox Roast. This ride was jointly organized by Habitat for Humanity Lansing and Habitat for Humanity Clinton County. Together, we raised over $5,000 to fight substandard housing in our community! Thank you to our riders, our volunteers, and our sponsors, for making our first year such a success!
