Walmart and Habitat Lansing Dedicate Home Lansing, Mich. (Nov. 2, 2009) – After only two months of construction, the new home at 429 Chilson will be open for a dedication ceremony on Thursday, November 5, at noon. Habitat for Humanity Lansing built the home in partnership with Walmart employees and Daphne Workman, who will purchase the home this fall. The home is expected to meet Energy Star standards and is a handicapper-accessible two-story structure. The home dedication is a celebration of the home, the volunteers, and the sponsors. Habitat Lansing and Habitat for Humanity Michigan representatives will both address the partnership. Jeff Barnard will represent Walmart as their market manager. Workman will speak on behalf of her family and her pastor, Rev. Jeff Goode of All Nations Church, will offer a blessing. The three bedroom, two bathroom home on Chilson is part of a two-state effort by Walmart Foundation to support communities in which they have stores. Other projects include a rehabilitation home in Grand Rapids and another in Pontiac and a new home in Roseville. Five homes are currently under construction in Ohio.
